A letter from our Chair

Hello, it’s that time of year to ask you to renew your membership to the P H Wildlife Society.

Thanks to all our members who attend and organize our monthly Meetings – weve had an enjoyable year. The Federation of BC Naturalists generously awarded $1000 towards the first ever “Sunshine Coast BioBlitz” held at the Iris Griffith Centre. Organized in May by the Lagoon Society, we were pleased to collaborate and also contributed an additional $1500 towards the event. Experts of all kinds attended and members from both Societies enjoyed the weekend. We have a full colour report for members to see and it is also available in digital format. Also, the Pacific Salmon Foundation has funded recent work at Anderson Creek for over-wintering ponds and the SCRD has agreed to fund work with AAWQA to produce a “living by water” leaflet.
Our guest speaker on November 18th will be Tony Greenfield – the Sunshine Coast’s very own Birding expert and our evening will be complimented by Clint and Irene visiting from the Gibsons Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre with their Xmas gifts and cards for sale.

Please Note: Next year we shall be hosting the Fall Meeting for Federation of BC Naturalists
BC Nature on Sept 10 – 13th 2009. Naturalists from all over BC will be invited to Pender Harbour so we can share what we enjoy about the natural world. Now is a great time to mark your calendars and get involved with the organizing.

We look forward to another enjoyable year and thank you for your support. Please contribute by sending the attached membership form back to us. Why not also let us know of wildlife subjects or speakers you would like and help widen the audience by bringing a neighbour or friend to a meeting.

Yours,
Dale Jackson Chair
